Bee in my Easter Bonnet

March 14, 2008

I’ve got a bee in my Easter bonnet;
What’s got me all worked up?
A buzz that is worth a sonnet;
Women’s healthcare is so screwed up.

Doc says, “You are just a girl.”
Answers should be better than that.
Such responses make my toes fully curl,
Because women deserve better than a pat on the back.

Clearly, women’s healthcare needs more,
When a good direction seems so unclear.
At times, we are ignored,
Even though our eyes fill with tears.

I struggle to set the unhealthy anger aside,
Knowing someday women will have a stronger voice.
With this hope, I find peace in my life,
Because happiness is my healthy choice.

Since I have no need for that angry bee,
I will swat at it until I am free.
