Author Commentary: I Live, therefore I Train

April 26, 2008

Who is 93, famous, fit and still going strong? Jack LeLanne. Inspired by a recent interview on CBS with Mr. LeLanne, I expanded on his concept of training to live because “life is an athletic event”. He is an outstanding example of what good nutrition and exercise habits can give you. Longevity and health, together as one package that provides for quality of life, well into the 90′s. Yes, the godfather of fitness is known by many but followed by few. We should all learn from his example.

I have always said that pain is a doorway to transformation. Not only do I say it, I live it. My chronic painful condition forced me to transform into a healthier person. I really do train intensely, everyday. Living is much better now that I am fit and trim. Rewards abound for maintaining my exercise program, I can now enjoy cross-country skiing, hiking, fishing, and traveling without the pain controlling me. I am too young to remember Jack LeLanne at his prime, but I certainly appreciate him in his sunset years. Sunsets are sure beautiful.
