My Nerve’s On Fire
(think Jonny Cash)
‘Cause it burns, burns, burns;
My nerve’s on fire, my nerve’s on fire.
Doc says my spine is stenotic.
Now, my legs act quite chaotic.
What am I to do? What am I to do?
The nerves are pinched in two places.
I can’t stand, walk, or run races.
How can I live? How can I live?
‘Cause it burns, burns, burns;
My nerve’s on fire, my nerve’s on fire.
Maybe, I should find a doc with a knife.
The risk of surgery might be alright.
What am I to do? What am I to do?
If the pain is controlled with shots and pills,
Surgery could wait as I battle uphill.
Is this for me? Is this for me?
But, it burns, burns, burns;
My nerve’s on fire, my nerve’s on fire.
With pluses and minuses, I need a guiding hand.
My doc and I have got to get a good plan.
Just take it slow, just take it slow.
Though it burns, burns, burns;
My nerves might calm down, my nerves might calm down.

This poem is fantastic! I had to chuckle, in an empathetic way, because I relate so well to the words and sentiments expressed in your poem! Nice to read that other people truly understand. While I wouldn’t wish this nerve pain on my worst enemy, well not for more than a few hours anyway, I appreciate when others understand and can relate. Great job!
YOU HAVE SAID EVERYTHING I FEEL EVERYDAY AND DID NOT KNOW HOW TO PUT DOWN INTO WORDS. WOULD IT BE ALRIGHT IF I SHOWED THIS TO MY PAIN DOCTOR?
THANK YOU JEANNE
